Design ideas with cushions
Furnishings that are done in a mix of colour palettes, with vibrant patterns of their own can be given a new focus simply by adding solid coloured cushions. Against dark colours, like brown, black or royal and midnight blue, try adding bright cushions such as red cushions, green cushions or even yellow, just to spice up the provided palette. On light coloured furnishings, scatter items like purple cushions, embroidered cushions, designer cushions with bold patterns like a Union Jack cushion, owl cushion or multi-coloured knitted cushions for a dramatic effect.
Large cushions and floor cushions can be used in any room as an added selection of seating. This will work especially well in children’s rooms, living rooms or entertainment areas. UK designers have recently released new lines of these cushions, some of them the length of a child’s body, making them a very comfortable seating choice for sleepovers, parties and video game or movie nights. Pink and teal are great colours for this type of cushions, but other colours are available for all cushion covers.
