Screens and dividers
Screens and dividers are often used to break up a larger space into smaller living and work areas. For example, a dressing screen, perhaps done in a baroque style, will be used to enclose a bed area from the rest of the living space, or a dressing area from the rest of the bedroom.
You do not necessarily have to live in a large space in order to take advantage of having a room divider screen. They can also be used to give an additional sense of privacy within a larger area, mainly because space does not exist to otherwise create a separate room environment. One popular use for a privacy screen, for example, is to create a private nook within a larger room. In this fashion, a home office can be made, or an intimate reading nook, cut off from the larger room through the use of screens and dividers. A folding screen will often have two to five panels, and can be used as room dividers or room partitions.
