I’m getting sick of blinds and curtains as window treatments – what are the alternatives?

Have you considered using shutters? They’re a more permanent solution to curtains and blinds but I think they really amazing. Loads of companies are doing them now so it pays to shop around for a good deal. The New England Shutter Company is a good choice but I’d go on recommendations from friends, colleagues and family who’ve had them fitted because I’ve heard some nightmare stories regarding less professional companies. Good luck and let is see how they look.

It’s a good question – and there are some really highly recommended window shutter companies operating in the UK today.
The main thing to decide is whether to get nice hardwood shutters, or if you are on a budget more cost effective plastic. Definitely read third party websites like Rated People, Find a Tradesmen etc, and several shutter websites now have ‘customer stories’ etc to get an idea of how their products went down.
Once you’ve decided on wood or plastic, what options would you like, colours , finishes etc. And finally, are you feeling like some DIY or would you like your shutters installed for you. They are definitely easier than windows to install, but you do need some minor DIY enthusiasm! You’ll be saving some dosh for doing it yourself of course.
A couple of companies really well recommended are: Shutterly Fabulous shutters for full installation and Shutterly Fabulous DIY shutters. Give them a try as a starting point I would suggest. Good luck!
