I’m redecorating my kitchen and don’t want to go down the usual tile/stone/wood route. Anyone have any cool/clever alternatives?

Hello!
The mydeco website has a really cool 3d tool where you can organise your room and try out different furniture and finishes such as wallpaper, wood floorings etc. and you can change the floor plan to represent your home. It’s a really good way of deciding how you are going to arrange and decorate a room before you start, and it’s free! Check it out at mydeco.com

Hi Annie,

I’ve had a look and the mydeco 3d tool is pretty horrible and complicated for someone like me. Reckon I’d need to spend hours and hours on it and I’d just end up with something that looked nothing like my room!

I was really looking for something that differed from the usual tile/stone/wood thing, whereas everything on mydeco seems to be the stuff I see everywhere on the web. Any other ideas?

Hi Jenny

If you’re looking for something really different for your kitchen floor why not try rubber?
It’s super easy to keep clean and is slip-proof too. Dalsouple (www.dalsouple.com; 01278 7277 33) manufacture a wide range of colours and textures.

Alternatively, you could add some pattern to your scheme by using floor tiles from Harvey Maria (www.harveymaria.co.uk; 0845 680 1231) and lastly, if you’re on a budget, why not try painting your existing floor.

Ecos Paints (www.ecosorganicpaints.co.uk; 01524 852371) have a wide selection of floor paints for use on wooden or concrete floors. They come in satin or gloss finishes and are available in a wide choice of colours, what’s more their eco friendly too. Hope that helps.

Go for the vinyl flooring, not only it looks great but it is very much affordable too.
