I’ve inherited an old fashioned school desk from a relation and really want to use it my home office. It’s a bit knackered and needs revamping. Any suggestions of what to do? |

I’d start by scrapping off all the old paint or varnish so you have a new surface to work with. Then you need to decide how to finish it. You could try re varnishing to give it a classic look or for a more contemporary feel why not paint it in a dark matt paint such as a midnight blue or steel grey. Another good idea is to paint the top with chalkboard paint so you can scribble notes to yourself while you work. |

I revamped my chest of drawers by painting it with specialist paint from International Paints and added new knobs and it looks amazing – give it a go, it’s certainly cheaper than buying a new one. |
