Description
We won't resort to a Wikipedia rehash of the Amish Mennonites and their community's decision to forgo the trappings of modern day life (adhering to a series of prohibitions which include usage of telecommunications, electric power and motor vehicles) - but we will give you the low down on these brilliant barn stars made in their Pennsylvania settlements. Despite living in the most commercially industrialised nation on Earth, the Amish communities of North America have effectively developed on a separate timeline to the landmass around them; with many lost folk art techniques and styles still in regular use. Constrained in their manufacturing methods due to the abstinence of electricity and associated tool sets, these barn stars are robust and striking - charming with their simplicity and unusual provenance. Naturally aged over the years and given even greater character through the bruised rust patches, these vintage Amish Barn Stars work as ornaments, wall hangings or festive inflections and bring with them a whole heap of history. Stars in their eyes! ............................................ 30cm x 30cm Please note; due to the nature of this product, each plate will differ from that shown in the picture Pictures: Picture1, Picture2
