Painted Gansu Blanket Chest
Originally used for storing various linen, this Painted Gansu Blanket Chest originated from the Gansu province in China. Made in the 1880s, this chest comes laden with paintings of flowers and other prized items.
These paintings are featured in the bright orange panels at the front of the chest while the rest of it is painted in a dark lacquer. If you look closely, the black lacquer frames are also adorned using geometric shapes, with each corner bearing swastikas. The swastika is actually a Buddhist symbol used to represent prosperity.
This is a rare and beautiful item worth investing in. It's not everyday you come across something so pretty.
