Gansu Painted Sideboard
This traditional Gansu Painted Sideboard is a great way to add an Oriental flavour to your space. It's made in the Gansu province during the 1880s.
Aside from the hardware, the rest of the item is purely authentic. It comes with a stunning red lacquer finish that has slightly faded in some parts, giving the piece a lovely patina. If you look closely, you can even spot the old paintings and calligraphy included in the doors as well as front panels.
You'll find two doors at the front panel. There are also two side spandrels which are neatly carved, offering the piece an elegant touch. The lower portion including the apron at the bottom is considerably worn out. The foot is worn as well exposing the darker wood underneath. This gives a richer character to the piece.
