Original BTC

Established in 1990, Original BTC designs and produces relaxed lighting for both contemporary and traditional homes. Their products are hand-assembled in Oxford from the finest chrome, bone china and aluminium. Their essential collections are unassumingly elegant yet at an accessible price.

One of the leaders of industrial style, founder Peter Bowles’ original designs and updated classics are inspired by childhood toys, factory fittings and iconic 40s design. Three UK production facilities are dedicated to constructing the beautifully unprocessed lights, e.g. their aluminium shades are hand-spun from sheet metal in the heart of the country’s metalworking industry and sent to Oxford for assembly.

Quality, detail, and mix of materials is of primary importance: metallic painted, glass or china shades are paired with polished, satin or chromed bases which are offset by matching cotton braided flex. Practical and functional, the stems can be raised and lowered and shades angled to create the perfect ambience.
